Intense corporate background
ARealtor since 2010, Barbara Reiss has a business degree in hotel restaurant management from Johnson & Wales University. Prior to real estate, she worked for Hilton International as a convention sales manager for about six years.
Through that intense corporate background, she learned how to deal with lots of different people, a skill she relies on throughout the real estate process.
Keeping it professional, having a strong personality and the ability to work with anyone give Reiss an edge.
“I know how to keep things calm and get things done,” she said,
Reiss primarily serves Ridgefield, Wilton, Redding, Danbury and Newtown. When working with buyers, she sits down and talks to them about what they are looking for in a community and home. If need be, she has them work with a mortgage broker to make sure they understand the process and their spending power.
Before taking them on tours, she finds properties that fit their needs.
With sellers, Reiss sometimes works with them for years before they put their property on the market, coaching them on what they need to do so it’s ready when the time is right. When it’s time to sell, she looks at the presentation of the home, uses professional stagers and spends a lot of time looking at market stats, making sure the price is right so buyers will see value
“We’re not in a seller’s market today, we’re in a buyer’s market,” she said. “You have to show a value to buyers and by
presenting value your house has to have a top presentation, your condition has to be excellent and you have to be priced right.”
When buyers buy their dream home or sellers get a price near what they were expecting with the least amount of stress possible, she knows it’s all worthwhile.
Reiss is married with three kids and a cockapoo named Bear. She and her husband enjoy kayaking on Long Island Sound and are avid outdoor walkers. Reiss enjoys cooking and gardening.
She volunteers at St. Stephen’s Church and she and her husband volunteer with various community services.
