Ken Gucker a ‘true leader’

This Tuesday is a tant election.

It is with this thought in mind that I encourage everyone to vote for Ken Gucker for State Representative for the 138th district. Ken is an outstanding candidate whose mission is to make the lives of local residents better and safer.

Ken was born and raised in New Fairfield and has been a Danbury resident for more than 30 years. He is an outspoken advocate for the citizens of New Fairfield and Danbury. Here are some things you should know about this exceptional candidate:

Ken is passionate about making sure that all citizens have affordable health care. He believes it is a right, not a privilege.

As a small business owner, Ken understands how important it is to make sure that citizens and small business can thrive by advocating for tax reforms.

No one should have to be financially burdened in order to care for a sick loved one.

Ken is an advocate for our children. He wants to make sure that children are not only getting a proper education but that they are prepared for the workforce once they are out in the world.

Ken also knows how important it is for us to take care of our senior community and will make sure senior citizens are protected and able to live their lives without worries.

Ken has also been active in land use, environmental conservation, and historic preservation issues, especially regarding not using chemicals in our jewel, Candlewood Lake.

Michael Ferguson ‘puts students first’

I have known Michael Ferguson for the past five years, and had the pleasure of serving with him on the Danbury Board of Education from 2013-2017. During that time, I was able to see upclose Michael’s passion for our students, and making sure that we always did what was in their best interests.

As a graduate of the Danbury Pubic Schools, a college professor, and chairman of Danbury’s school-based mentoring program, the Danbury Schools and Business Collaborative (DSABC), Michael has the unique background to continue to be our leading advocate on education.

In Hartford, Michael has been a strong voice for Danbury. In his two years in office, he has pushed for positive changes to the education funding formula which has resulted in an additional $1 million for the Danbury Public Schools, supported needed mandate relief for school districts, and helped secure additional construction funding for school renovation projects.

Michael’s leadership is making a difference. He has a track record of making education a priority and for doing what is best for the 138th District.

On Nov. 6th, I urge you to vote for State Rep. Michael Ferguson so that he can continue to fight for our schools, students, and families in Hartford.

Why wouldn’t Buckbee debate O’Brien?

Tom O’Brien, candidate for State Rep. in the 67th District, extended an offer to debate Representative Bill Buckbee. Buckbee declined. Why?

Remember that phrase, “Read my lips?”

Well, we can’t read Buckbee’s lips because he wouldn’t debate.

Representative Buckbee, it’s time to stop hiding behind your beard. If you won’t debate you can’t defend your record.

Your vote for the budget that stripped New Milford of vital state funding is indefensible.
