An eye for design in Newtown

- Pam Gleason

ARealtor since 1993, Pam Gleason has a bachelor’s degree in resource management apparel design from the University of Connecticut. Prior to real estate, she worked in systems engineering for Gerber Garments. Next, she spent seven years in wholesale women’s clothing for Calvin Klein. After that, she did on-the-road sales of highend eyewear for Logo Paris.

When she became a mom, she went into the family real estate business with her husband, Bob. Her sales experience translated smoothly into real estate and her eye for design lends itself to staging homes. Honesty sets her apart.

“I just kind of have a good way to tell the truth and let [people] feel at ease,” she said. “I mean I’m a good agent, I can’t sell something that someone thinks is a million dollar property but it’s worth $200,000.”

When working with buyers, she asks for a wish list but noted the end purchase does not always reflect the list, yet clients still get what they wanted.

With sellers, she keeps an open line of communication and determines how she’ll reach out based on their preferences.

“I like to figure out how they want to communicate. Are they phone callers, texters, emailers?” she said.

Finally, she brings people in to do the necessary work to get a home ready for market and takes advantage of her skills at staging.

“The design part always comes through,” she said.

Gleason is rewarded when people are pleased with the outcome.

“I just like seeing the people happy where

they’re living,” she said. “You know, they feel good and it doesn’t matter, it could be a onebedroom apartment or it could be a million dollar home and it could be a thousand steps in between.”

Gleason, who serves Fairfield County and primarily Newtown, specializes in new construction and works frequently with her husband’s company, Upstreams Property, and its developments, including The Grand in Bethel, a 29-unit apartment building and a new development in Granby.

Gleason and her husband have been married for 30 years and have two grown children.
