Working full force for clients
ARealtor since 2003, Carolyn Ridenour is also licensed in New York. With a degree in history from Western Connecticut State University, she was in banking and retail management prior to real estate.
Through those experiences she learned about the finances, a skill she utilizes to help clients work out the numbers and determine their monthly payments.
She brings a focus on customer service to her business.
“And I’m a workaholic,” she said. “I’m also very tenacious so if a client says they want it I go full force to work for them.”
Ridenour serves the western half of Connecticut and to the Hudson River in New York.
When working with buyers, she starts from scratch.
“I’m there every step of the way from the very first step to the end,” she said.
The process begins with determining what they are looking for in a home and making sure they are prequalified. Next, she screens potential homes and sends them listings to have them pick out what’s appealing to them.
“It’s their choice because it’s their home,” she said. “They’re the ones who have to live in it so I’m really focused on what they want.”
Once she has acquired an understanding of clients’ wants and needs, they go house shopping. When they find a home they want, she helps them maneuver through the process using her negotiating skills and working out issues that pop up in inspections.
With sellers, what she does depends on their needs.
“I’ll be anywhere from an adviser to someone you can bounce ideas off of,” she said.
She offers market analyses of recent and past sales and current comparable properties to determine proper pricing. If necessary, she hires outside contractors to stage the property and uses professional photographers so the home is presented properly.
She markets the home so it’s in its best light and gets it sold.
Ridenour is married and is a dog lover, who adopts older dogs. She enjoys hiking, boating, paddling and being on the water or in the woods.
