Mark A. Sternburg, 68, of Brookfield, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 after a six-month battle with brain cancer at Regional Hospice in Danbury. He was born July 20, 1952 in Syracuse, New York to the late H. John and Elizabeth (Allen) Sternburg.

Mark was raised in Norwalk, graduating from Brian McMahon High School in 1970. Then going on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Wisconsin in 1974, and his MBA from Columbia University in New York. He worked in several capacities for Citibank, IBM, and brokerage companies in southern Fairfield County, before opening his own firm from 1985-2009. After the 2008 crash, he rebranded himself, going to work for David Lerner Associates as a financial advisor until 2010, moving to People’s Bank until 2015 and joining LPL Financial as an independen­t advisor until his retirement in October 2020.

Mark was an avid NY Yankees fan and loved pheasant hunting with his Labrador Retrievers. He also enjoyed sports cars, listening to music from rock-and-roll to jazz, and was an avid reader of various internet news media and books of various topics.

Mark is survived by his partner of over 20 years Sheryl Johnson of Brookfield, his cousins, Laird Allen of Ridgefield, CT and Robin Allen of Tucson, AZ. He also leaves behind his current beloved Labs, Holly and Lady, and numerous close friends, especially Jim Karns, Doug Lee & Chris Hanak.
