Marc Jeffrey McChesney

Marc Jeffrey McChesney of Ridgefield, CT died very suddenly and unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Marc was 35 years old.

Marc was a passionate and talented artist, producing hundreds of paintings, sketches, and illustrations throughout his life. At the time of his death, Marc had nearly completed illustrations for a picture book of classic nursery rhymes. After graduating from Ridgefield High School in 2004, Marc was introduced to prolific author/illustrator Maurice Sendak, resulting in a mentorship and deep friendship for the remainder of Mr. Sendak’s life. Marc continued to support Mr. Sendak’s legacy through the Sendak Foundation, based out of Ridgefield, while pursuing his own artistic endeavors.

Marc is survived by his parents, Jeffrey McChesney and Diann (Webster) McChesney, of Ridgefield, CT, his older sister, Lauren McChesney, of Allentown, PA, and the family’s new Boston Terrier puppy, George. The family, along with the Sendak Foundation, will hold a private memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Marc’s remarkable life and creative journey.

Marc will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but the family is comforted by the knowledge that his memory will live on through his art. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in care of arrangements
