Woman charged in 2020 Washington crash

WASHINGTON — A 21-year-old woman is facing drunken driving and assault charges in connection with a Route 202 crash last year that sent multiple people to the hospital.

Andrea Marie Wadeson, of Hancock, N.Y., turned herself in to state police April 11, on a warrant stemming from the twovehicle rollover crash on New Milford Turnpike last June.

State police said Wadeson was intoxicated when her 2013 Chevrolet Malibu struck the rear of a 2019 Jeep Wrangler at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Route 47, causing the Jeep to go off the road, roll over and strike a tree.

One of the passengers in the Jeep — a 70-year-old Goshen man — was left paralyzed, and his 70-yearold wife was severely injured as well, the Republican-American reported.

Wadeson and the Jeep’s four occupants were transported to Danbury Hospital.

Police said Wadeson’s blood-alcohol level was found to be above the legal limit, and state police determined that the speed of her car had been “well in excess of the posted speed limit” at the time of the crash.

Following the state police investigation, a warrant was issued for Wadeson’s arrest.

She has been charged with driving under the influence, as well as three counts of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.

Wadeson was released after posting $85,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at state Superior Court in Torrington on June 25.
