Removing vax exemption an ‘egregious violation’
Open letter to the Connecticut Senate: I am writing for you to vote no in passing the bill that will be before you today to take away the religious exemption from vaccines.
Our Constitution’s First Amendment guarantees religious freedom. By passing this bill, the State of Connecticut is saying that a person’s religious rights and beliefs are superseded by the pharmaceutical companies’ desires to vaccinate.
The pharmaceutical companies already have immunity from prosecution when their vaccines injure or even kill someone who takes them. If the religious exemption is taken away, are you willing to hold the pharmaceutical companies liable for the damage they can cause?
As it stands right now, a person injured by a vaccine can only find restitution in special courts run by the pharmaceutical companies themselves. What other industry is afforded such a luxury? None.
Finally, Section 20 of the Connecticut Constitution states: “SEC. 20. No person shall be denied the equal protection of the law nor be subjected to segregation or discrimination in the exercise or enjoyment of his civil or political rights because of religion, race, color, ancestry or national origin.”
Passing this bill into law is an egregious violation of Connecticut citizens to “enjoyment of his civil or political rights because of religion ...”
Please vote no on this bill.
