Manuel Antonio Andrade, 93, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Danbury Hospital on May 6, 2021.

Born in Madeira Island, Portugal on Oct 9, 1927, he came to the City of Danbury in 1983 from Lisbon, Portugal to reunite with his family.

He worked at Rapid Power Technologi­es in Brookfield, CT until his retirement in 2000.

Manuel’s wife was Rosaria Moura Andrade, they were married for 49 years. Rosaria passed away in August, 2000. Manuel was also predecease­d by one brother, Jose Antonio De Andrade of London, England; and his sister, Maria De Lurdes Rodrigues of Caracas, Venezuela.

Survivors include his daughter: Maria Fernanda Pereira, his son in law, Jorge Goncalo Pereira; his three grandchild­ren: Ana Rute Pereira and her husband, Manuel Cadilla; Ana Catarina Pereira- Fieschi and her husband, Leandro Fieschi; and Ana Margarida Pereira. Also surviving are his siblings: Nazare Andrade Spinola, Herculana Ferreira as well as nieces and nephews who reside in his home country of Portugal.

Manuel was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Danbury and the Portuguese Cultural Center (PCC), where he was an active member of the Sons of Portugal Folklore group. Manuel and his family remained active in the Danbury Portuguese Community for many years.

Over the years, Manuel traveled and worked all over the world. He was known for telling his humorous jokes and entertaini­ng life stories to his friends and family who remember him as the true “life of the party”. He will be missed and memorializ­ed by many in the Danbury, CT and Lisbon, Portugal community

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Almost Home Adult Daycare, Hancock Hall Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center and Danbury Hospital where he was treated with true compassion and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenienc­e of the family. Interment will be in Portugal
