Bruce Wayne Fleetwood of New Milford, CT, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on September 22, 2021 after a short battle with Lung cancer. He was born December 10, 1941 in Norwalk, CT, where he resided until 2003 when he moved to New Milford to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife Camille G.Fleetwood and they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversar­y on October 26th.

He leaves behind two children: Gerolynn Laukevicz and her husband Charles Laukevicz, Jon Fleetwood and his wife Lisa Malvesi as well as three grandchild­ren: Christa Laukevicz and her significan­t other Wesley Mariere, Gabrielle Johnson and her husband Shane Johnson and Phoebe Fleetwood. He was predecease­d by his mother Velma and father Roland Fleetwood and four brothers, Wayne, Gary, Ronald and Edward Fleetwood.

Bruce was lovingly nicknamed by his family “Poppy” and “Shorts” by his friends at Dunkin Donuts who he visited daily. He was known as “The Original Lumberjack” through a 28 year career with the Department of Transporta­tion for the State of Connecticu­t as a Supervisor of a tree crew. He was a power lifter and experience­d outdoorsma­n which helped him to be successful while working in extreme weather conditions.

He was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Francis Xavier Parish of New Milford, CT. He was a passionate fan and follower of Military Aviation and loved to attend as many air shows he could to see The Blue Angels and The Thunderbir­ds. He was staunch Yankee fan and his all time favorite player was Thurman Munson. He enjoyed archery, bird watching, showing off his cooking skills and he was an amateur meteorolog­ist. His biggest love of all was being with his family, spending as much time as he could and also loved cooking for them.

There will be NO calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Parish in New Milford, CT, on Friday October 8, 2021 at 10:00 am. All are welcomed to join his family for this service.
