Kathleen Gould

-

Kathleen Gould of New Fairfield, Connecticut passed away January 24, 2022. She was 93 years old and a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, greatgrandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend.

Kathleen was born in White Plains, New York to Peter and Katherine (Healy) Dott on October 23, 1928. Growing up in Purchase, New York, Kathleen graduated as the valedictorian from Purchase School. After graduating from Port Chester High School, she attended Katherine Gibbs School.

While working at Westchester County Airport for the airport manager, she met dashing corporate pilot Austin James (AJ) Gould and they were married in 1951. They raised four children: Kathy, Patti, Susan and Austin Jr.

Kathleen and AJ moved many times to New York, Oklahoma, Connecticut, New Jersey and California, and each time Kathleen made a beautiful home for her family. Christmas was her special time and the house glowed with wonderful decorations. She hosted countless gatherings for extended family and friends and, as a gourmet cook, treated everyone to amazing Italian meals. She leaves her family with a treasure chest full of recipes gleaned from newspapers and magazines; the amount of food spattered on each tells the story of how often others enjoyed them. Kathleen was a devoted New York Times reader, reading every word for more than 70 years, and sending pertinent articles to one and all. She was a loyal fan of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team and of Tom Brady, whether at New England or Tampa. A lifelong dachshund lover, she will be missed by her miniature doxie Wiesen.

Kathleen is survived by her children Kathleen Cullen, Patricia (Dennis) Christensen, Susan (Butch) Coviello and Austin (Kathryn) Gould, Jr.; her beloved sister Eileen Portanova and sisters-in-law Genevieve Gilbert and Terry Dott; her 10 grandchildren Erin Carlson, Pete (Brooke) Cullen, Kate Edwards, Alex Edwards, Robbie Coviello, Austen Coviello, Grace Gould, Ella Gould, Austin J. Gould III and Harriet Gould; her 5 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces, especially Genevieve Harrison and Joan Portanova.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother Peter Dott.

The family would like to thank the Davita dialysis support team, the dedicated nurses, therapists and aides at Western Connecticut Home Care, and the New Fairfield Fire Department’s EMS for their professional and caring services.

A memorial service is being planned for the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Kathleen’s name be made to Squantz Engine Company, P.O. 8220, New Fairfield, CT 06812.
