Mari F. Leonard

Mari F. (Balog) Leonard, 86, wife of the late Donald J. Leonard, of 59 Carlson Ridge Road, New Milford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

She was born on September 28, 1935, in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late John and Helen (Brennan) Balog and attended St. Peters and Blessed Sacrament Academy in Yonkers, NY. Mari had many careers in her life, starting as a stewardess for American Airlines. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (while pregnant with her eighth child) as well as a travel agent, real estate agent and finished her working career at New Milford Hospital Emergency Dept. Mari loved her large family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a dedicated, lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and would never miss a game.

She is survived by her children: Patricia Leonard Munson and her husband Bruce Munson of New Milford, Kelley Gargon of New Milford, Kim Raymond of New Preston, Brian Leonard of New Milford and Michael Leonard and his wife Heather Leonard of Warren.

She was very proud of her 11 grandchildren:

Jessica Ferris, Christopher Munson, Kyle Munson, Shawn Gargon, Lindsey Gargon, Stephen Raymond, Alyson Raymond, Emily Raymond, Jenna Raymond, Mari Leonard, and Owen Reighard as well as 5 greatgrandchildren: Jacob Ferris, Kelsie Ferris, Brayden Ferris, Anthony Virgilio, Cameron Virgilio. She was predeceased by her sons: Kevin Leonard, Denis Leonard and James Leonard.

Funeral services and private burial at Saint Francis Xavier Church in New Milford will be held at a later date. The Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
