A former Brookfield department head will return to the district to lead the high school’s science and math program.

Andrew Hill, who has spent the past three years serving as the Westport Board of Education mathematics coordinator for grades six through 12, has been appointed as the STEM curriculum specialist at Brookfield High School, according to a release.

Early in the budget process, the Board of Education cut an administrative position, causing the administration to eliminate the science and math department head positions and create Hill’s position, Superintendent John Barile said.

Hill will transition the high school’s science, mathematics and technology departments into a unified program for science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, fields.

Hill previously served as Brookfield High School's department head for one year and taught math at Brookfield High School for eight years.

“Andrew’s diverse skill set and expertise in multiple disciplines, combined with his prior administrative experience, will help to unify our departments and provide our students with a robust and cohesive integrated curriculum,” Barile said in a release. “Hill is excited, not only about a new professional challenge and opportunity, but also to return home.”
