Locals finish season at Outdoor Nationals

A group of local athletes completed their seasons last weekend with a trip to North Carolina A&T University for New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Three standouts competed in individual championsh­ip events. Newtown’s Carly Swierbut took 17th in the 400-meter run, clocking in at 55.76. Dan Nichols finished 21st in the 2-mile in

10:35.24. Eli Nahom finished 27th in the 2,000meter steeplecha­se with a time of 6:17.83.

Danbury’s foursome of Jaden Cazorla, Malachi Lorick, Sean-Michael Parkinson and Glenroy Ford finished 13th in the 800 meter sprint medley in

1:33.45. The girls team of Shanell Stewart, Erika Regus, Meilee Kry and Natalee Seipio was 38th

(1:51.21) in the same event; the hatters took 31st in the

1,600 SMR.

More competed in the Emerging Elite section of the event. Hatters junior Lauren Moore placed seventh in the 1-mile in 5:01.57. Ridgefield’s Emma Langis clocked in at 1:03.04 in the

400.

Newtown senior Zach Crebbin finished in a tie for

12th in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.25. Nathaniel Llanos finished in a tie for

27th in the pole vault with a jump of 13-09.75. New Milford teammates Andrew Grinnell (147-11) and James Day (144-01) finished 28th and 29th in the javelin.

The Ridgefield 4x800 relay team of Ethan MacKenzie, Charles Coffin, Kevin Arnold and Simon Jupp finished seventh in

8:01.89. Immaculate’s Dominique Valentine, Taylor Mascetta, Molly Coyle and Emma Connolly took seventh in the 4x800 with a time of

9:27.71 while Danbury’s quartet of Cassandra Sturdevant, Alex Chakar, Olivia Turk and Leah Sarkisian was 12th in the race in

9:33.42.
