Karen Ticknor Bulwidas

On November 22, 2018, Thanksgiving Day, Karen Ticknor Bulwidas passed away and joined her beloved parents in Heaven. She was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on May 31, 1947 and graduated from Fox Lane High School in 1965. She was married to Peter Bulwidas on June 24, 1972. She leaves behind her husband of 46 years Peter Bulwidas, her brothers John Ticknor of Lincoln, California and Peter Ticknor of Tampa, Florida and their families. They were all very dear to her loving heart. Karen worked at Pepsico/ Pepsi Cola for 27 years before Parkinson’s made it too difficult. She enjoyed her colleagues there and forged some deep friendships. Karen and Pete lived in Mt. Kisco, NY prior to buying a home in New Milford, CT where they lived for the rest of their married lives enjoying the birds and other occasional forest visitors including a chubby black bear who wandered into their yard now and then. They spent many summers on Cape Cod and eventually bought and restored a lovely home there. The roses and other flowers she planted there were a joy to see. Karen was an avid needle pointer whose skills were truly awesome. Numerous friends and family members were delighted when they received some of her pillows and wall hangings. Those will be treasured forever. She also enjoyed beading and made many lovely pieces of jewelry. Karen was a woman of deep love, strong loyalties and a generous spirit who happily entertained friends and family in both New Milford and the Cape as long as she was able. She and Pete loved cats and adopted many of them over the years, some of which had physical and medical challenges themselves. Those lucky kitties lived the good life with them and were loved and cared for like the family members they were. Those of us who were lucky enough to be her family will miss her beyond measure, and we fill the void her passing has left in our lives with wonderful memories that delight our hearts.
