James Walker column to appear in Hearst newspapers statewide
The work of popular New Haven Register columnist and Senior Editor James Walker will now appear in all eight of Hearst’s daily newspapers in Connecticut.
He’s part of a growing roster of distinctive voices Hearst is assembling.
Walker’s column takes on matters of justice, crime, commuting, money, race, taxes and the general foibles of life.
“James Walker’s columns are sometimes provocative, often thought-provoking, but always thoughtful, heartfelt and immersed and in touch with the realworld experiences of the people of Connecticut,” said Matt DeRienzo, vice president of news and digital content for Hearst Connecticut. “We’re excited to see them receive a statewide audience, and expect a tremendous dialogue to emerge on the topics he tackles.”
Walker joined the New Haven Register in 2013 as metro editor. Previously, he was city editor of the Norwalk Hour for seven years, a general assignment reporter at the Hour, a business and features reporter at the Norwich Bulletin, and a reporter at the Pictorial Gazette in Old Saybrook.
He attended East Tennessee State University and lives in Bridgeport.
In the expanded role, Walker’s columns will appear in the Connecticut Post, Norwalk Hour, Stamford Advocate, Greenwich Time, Danbury NewsTimes, Torrington Register Citizen and The Middletown Press, in addition to the New Haven Register.
Earlier this month, Hearst announced the addition of longtime WNPR radio show host and Hartford Courant politics and humor writer Colin McEnore as a statewide columnist. His column is also published on Sundays in Hearst’s Connecticut daily newspapers.
