Penn’s Simon Mathias of Ridgefield, who has 23 goals and 19 ground balls, UMass defender Isaac Paparo of Westport (seven goals, 59 ground balls) and Virginia’s Michael Kraus of New Canaan (29 goals, 22 assists, 25 ground balls) are also on the men’s Top 25 list.

The only player on the women’s Top 25 list with ties to Connecticut is New Canaan’s Elizabeth Miller, who has two goals, 25 ground balls, 66 draw controls, and is one of four Boston College players on the list.

Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be selected from these groups with the finalists being announced on May 9.

COZZA FILM SCREENING

Former Yale football player Jacob Van de Grift has produced a film on the life of the late legendary coach Carm Cozza. There will be a screening on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Whitney Humanities Center at 53 Wall St. in New Haven.

“Carmen Cozza was a mainstay in the rich and storied history of Yale football. But while he had a tremendous impact on the players he coached and led a program that at one time competed in the national spotlight, his quiet-nature and humility has left his story unheard by many,” is how the synopsis of the film begins.
