ESPN Mag­a­zine to go out of print

Walt Dis­ney will pub­lish in Septem­ber a fi­nal print ver­sion of ESPN Mag­a­zine, ending a run of more than a decade un­der Bris­tol-based ESPN in which Hearst Corp. holds a mi­nor­ity stake. Dis­ney stated it may con­tinue pub­lish­ing in print ESPN Mag­a­zine’s an­nual “Body” is­sue which de­picts famed ath­letes in the nude. Ear­lier this year, Mered­ith Corp. con­firmed it was so­lic­it­ing buy­ers for Sports Il­lus­trated, as pressure for view­ers and ad dol­lars in­creases from al­ter­na­tive online pub­li­ca­tions like The Ath­letic and Barstool Sports.
