Cheddar sold to Altice for $200M

Cable operator Altice USA is buying out its fellow investors in the Cheddar online news platform for $200 million, adding global news geared toward millennials to its existing News 12 and i24News operations in the New York City region. Cheddar has existing cable TV carriage agreements with Altice as well as Stamford-based Charter Communications and Comcast, which both offer service in portions of southwestern Connecticut. Cheddar CEO Jon Steinberg will lead Altice News including Cheddar, News 12 and i24NEWS.
