Report: Police identify body found near busy I-84 onramp

- STAFF REPORTS

DANBURY — Police are investigating the death of a New York man whose body was found Thursday morning near the Exit 4 ramp to Interstate 84 east on Lake Avenue.

Danbury Police responded to the scene, but city police Lt. Mark Williams said State Police will handle the investigation because of the body’s location.

Although a dispatcher for Troop A said no news release was available Thursday night and no had additional information, News 12 Connecticut reported that Troop A identified the man as 63-year-old Herbert Ruehle, of Carmel, N.Y. News 12 said police said there was no indication of foul play.

Highway workers apparently led the police to a grassy area near the onramp where the body was found.

The area is heavily traveled, with several shopping plazas and hotels within walking distance of where the body was discovered.

“Anytime anything like this happens, it’s very sad,” Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton said Thursday afternoon. He said he didn’t want to comment further since police are still investigating.
