Turbines to stage in New London

With an added $70.5 million investment, Connecticut, Eversource Energy and Orsted will upgrade State Pier in New London as a staging point for wind turbines destined for the planned Bay State Wind offshore plant. In a statement, Gov. Ned Lamont articulated a vision of New London as a funnel for additional wind farms for installation off the Northeast coast. The state will split the new investment roughly equally with Eversource and Orsted, in addition to $22.5 million the companies had already committed. The state is aiming to complete the project in 2022.
