Dan­bury girls shine at In­vite

MID­DLE­TOWN — The Dan­bury girls track team scored sev­eral im­pres­sive per­for­mances at the Mid­dle­town In­vite last week­end as the 4x400 team won the event and the 4x100 team took sec­ond on Satur­day.

Meilee Kry — who took fifth in the pole vault — Daniella Grul­lon-Pena, Natalee Sei­pio and Alanna Smith won the 4x400 in 3:58.07, more than 10 sec­onds ahead of sec­ond-placed Hill­house. Sei­pio, Shanell Ste­wart, Jes­sica Glowacki and Guilana Robles was less than a sec­ond off the meet-record time of win­ning squad Wind­sor in the 4x100.

Smith claimed sec­ond in the 400 while Im­mac­u­late’s Tay­lor Mas­catta won the

1,600 (5:04.41). Team­mate An­gela Said­man (10:58.25) won the 3,200 ahead of Bethel’s Ava Graham

(11:00.17). Im­mac­u­late’s quar­tet of Said­man, Ai­lene Doherty, Molly Coyle and Mascetta won the 4x800 with a time of 9:27.73, six sec­onds ahead of sec­ond-placed Green­wich. Dan­bury was fifth in the event.

Mem­bers of the Dan­bury boys team spent the week­end at the St. An­thony’s In­vite on Long Is­land, where Malcolm Go­ing fin­ished fourth in the 800 (1:52.28). Jaden Ca­zorla fin­ished sev­enth in the 100 (11.60).
