Fleetwood, Cantlay commit to Travelers Championship

- STAFF REPORTS

Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Cantlay have joined the field at the Travelers Championship that now boasts 11 of the top 20 in the world rankings as of Monday.

Fleetwood, making his first appearance at TPC River Highlands, finished second in last year’s U.S. Open to Brooks Koepka (who was the first player to commit to this year’s Travelers back in January) and fourth in 2017. He also has four wins in Europe and was one of the heroes for Europe in last fall’s Ryder Cup.

Fleetwood, 26, is ranked 16th in the world thanks to four top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a tie for fifth at the Players Championship.

Cantlay is familiar with the River Highlands layout, shooting a 10-under 60 in his first year there in 2011 while still an amateur. That was the course record at the time and remains the best round ever shot by an amateur in a PGA Tour event.

Ranked 17th in the world, Cantlay, 27, has one tour win and six top-10 finishes this year, which includes a tie for ninth at the Masters.

The Travelers Championship is June 20-23.
