EchoS­tar sells satel­lites to Dish

Dish Network is spend­ing $800 mil­lion in stock to ac­quire seven broad­cast satel­lites it leases from EchoS­tar and two more, adding to a 2017 deal that pro­vided in­fra­struc­ture for its Dish TV and Sling TV plat­forms. En­ter­ing this year, Dish Network owned two satel­lites and leased two more from other com­pa­nies, with the satel­lites in geo­sta­tion­ary or­bit more than 22,000 miles above the equa­tor. Dish Network en­tered this year with 12.3 mil­lion pay TV sub­scribers, with the com­pany wind­ing down a satel­lite broad­band ser­vice.
