GAMES TO WATCH
FCIAC final, Thursday at McMahon, 7 p.m.: If No. 1 Darien gets past Wilton on Tuesday, it'll bid for an unprecedented sixth consecutive FCIAC title against either rival New Canaan or 2018 state-final nemesis Ridgefield.
SCC final, Thursday at West Haven, 7:30 p.m.: This hasn't quite been the Fairfield Prep Invitational, but the Jesuits have won three titles in a row and 10 out of 12, and they were favored again going into Tuesday's semifinal against Hand. SWC final, Thursday, site TBA, 7 p.m.: There was no sign during the regular season that anyone was going to head off New Fairfield, which outscored SWC opponents 198-26 in 10 games, including 34-9 against Newtown and Weston, who met in the other semifinal.
CCC Central final, Simsbury at Glastonbury, Thursday: As has often been the case, they meet again right after seeing each other in the regular season: Glastonbury won 8-4 a week ago.
CCC North final, TBA... Maybe?: Farmington is in if they play one, but with Wednesday's East Catholic-RHAM game (the last regular-season game in the state) determining the other competitor, and with East Catholic needing to play Saturday in the Class S tournament, whether they'd play a championship game was to be determined at last report.
CCC South final, Tolland at Berlin (Sage Park), Wednesday, 4 p.m.: Both teams are 12-4. Berlin won 12-3 at Tolland in the regular season.
CIAC qualifying round games, Saturday: Looks like there will be at least 15 of them spread across the three classes; each bracket had at least 19 teams qualify, and any above 16 force qualifying-round games. The "first" round, then, is next Wednesday, May 29.
