Navigators completes sale

The Hartford Financial Services Group completed its $2.2 billion acquisition of the Stamford-based specialty insurance carrier Navigators Group, adding more than 800 employees. The Hartford will retain the Navigators brand for reinsurance and wholesale business units in the United States, with Navigators remaining property and casualty lines to be converted to The Hartford’s brand. In 2013, the state of Connecticut awarded Navigators incentives of $11.5 million to move its headquarters to Stamford from Rye Brook, N.Y.
