⏩ DASH CAM CATCHES MAN BURGLARIZING VEHICLE
With the help of social media, Redding police were able to identify a man caught on a dash cam burglarizing a vehicle Saturday afternoon.
The break-in happened near the reservoir access trail on Newtown Turnpike around 4:30 p.m. That’s when a man smashed the rear driver’s side window of a parked vehicle and stole a bag from the back seat, police said.
A similar incident took place in the neighboring town of Easton along Route 58 around the same time, police said.
Thanks to an interior camera running inside the burglarized vehicle, Redding police were able to not only see what happened, but also put a face to the suspect.
Images of the man with dark hair, glasses and a look of amazement on his face were posted to the Redding Police Department’s Facebook page Tuesday, drawing more than 200 comments.
With tips from citizens, police were able to identify the suspect in a matter of hours. Since the investigation is ongoing, the man’s identity has not yet been revealed.
