Meet sus­pended un­til Thurs­day by rain

MID­DLE­TOWN — Jada Boyd of Hill­house opened the CIAC Class MM girls out­door track meet with a win in the 4x800 re­lay and closed the meet with a win in the 400 on Wed­nes­day at Manch­ester High.

Prior to the 400, the clouds opened up and a con­stant down­pour en­sued, forc­ing the post­pone­ment of the re­main­der of the meet af­ter the girls 400. Nine of the 18 events were com­pleted in the boys meet and six girls events were com­pleted. The meet will re­sume at 10 a.m. Thurs­day at Wil­low Brook Park in New Britain.

Boyd ran the last leg of the

4x800 re­lay that won in 9 min­utes, 44.27 sec­onds. She pulled away the last 200 me­ters to win the 400 in

59.10.

“I didn’t know how I’d do in the rain, so I de­cided to just go out and win,” Boyd said. “I made my move with about 200 me­ters to go and just kept go­ing. It’s al­ways great to win and con­trib­ute to the team.”

Erica Mar­riott of North Haven also came away with a win in the 100 in 12.45 sec­onds.

Af­ter six events, RHAM led the girls team stand­ings with 40 points, with Hill­house in se­cond with 38. Af­ter nine events, Hill­house led the boys stand­ings with

35.5 points. We­ston was se­cond with 30 and Ma­suk third with 28.

In the boys meet, De­shaune Poole of Hill­house won the 110 hur­dles, Gary Moore Jr. of Hill­house won the shot put (50 feet, 3 inches) and dis­cus (133-4) and Neal Eley of Hill­house won the 100

(10.91). Baruch Good­man of We­ston won the 400 (49.80)

Moore won the shot put with a per­sonal best throw.
