- By Dan Nowak

MIDDLETOWN — Windsor showcased its depth on Thursday at the CIAC Class L girls meet at Manchester High.

But it took the final event of the day to clinch the team title. Trailing Hall 113-110 heading into the 4x400 relay, Windsor won in 4:01.49 to earn 10 points and Hall ended up third in 4:04.82 and earned six points. Windsor ended up winning the title with 120 points and Hall had 119 for second place. Conard was third with 50 and Wilbur Cross fourth with 46.

“It was a crazy finish, but I’m so proud of these girls,” Windsor coach Kelvan Kearse said. “We only have four seniors on the team, we’re very young and we got so many important points from our young athletes. We’re fortunate to come away with this win, it says a lot about their hard work and effort.

“Going into that 4x400, I just told the girls don’t worry about what is behind you. Just win and that’s what they did. It was an exciting finish.”

Windsor kicked off the meet with a win in the 4x100 (48.29). Corui Richardson had a pair of wins for Hall in the 200 (25.42) and the 100 (12.21).
