NO ONE INJURED IN SCHOOL BUS FIRE
No injuries were reported after fire crews responded to a school bus that appeared to be smoking heavily near the intersection of George Washington Highway and Old Mill Road at 3:52 p.m. Friday.
Ridgefield Police dispatch said children had been evacuated from the bus.
“One of the smaller school buses, had a brake fire,” Fire Chief Jerry Myers said. “The brakes caught on fire in the rear. My understanding is there were a few students left on the bus and the driver evacuated them right away, and then he put out the fire with his fire extinguisher.”
Stephen Scheck, an eyewitness, said the flames had been contained by 4 p.m.
