Reuters: Amazon in Boost mobile bid

Amazon has approached Sprint and T-Mobile about a takeover of Sprint’s Boost prepaid mobile service, according to a Reuters report citing two unnamed sources. Sprint and T-Mobile are seeking U.S. approval for a $26 billion merger that has won the support of the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, but with multiple reports suggesting the U.S. Department of Justice is concerned the deal will lessen competition in the mobile sector. Any sale of Boost could fetch Sprint as much as $3 billion, Reuters reported.
