What to look for: New Fairfield has been on a roll all season, with the only blemish to its record coming in an 11-10 loss to Staples in the penultimate game of the regular season… The Rebels are deep across the field and boast veteran leadership as well… Senior goalie Rachel Mikolay is a two-time All-State selection, who has started since her sophomore season… Mikolay was the MVP of the Class S final in

2017… New Fairfield’s defense also features senior Eileen Rattigan, along with junior Daria Bock and Danielle Hernandez… Junior Katelyn Sousa is the Rebels’ top offensive threat, with seniors Sydney Colesworthy and Katelyn Nieves also key weapons… Stonington features senior Hannah Lamb, the school record-holder in career and single-season scoring… Lamb netted five goals to lead the Bears to a 9-5 win over No. 2 Canton in the semifinals… Seniors Emma Sabbadini and Kate Johnson are also keys to the offense, with Johnson handling the draws… Junior Isabella McCarthy will be at goalie and had seven saves in the semifinals.

You should know: New Fairfield has won 10 consecutive tournament games and is bidding for a state championship threepeat… If the Rebels win their third straight state title, they would be only the second team to do so in girls lacrosse. Darien won three straight from 2007 to 2009, and five straight from 2013 to 2017… New Fairfield won its first 14 games before losing 11-10 to Staples on May 14. The Rebels have won seven straight since that loss… Stonington won the Class L title in 2014 but had not gotten past the quarterfinals again until this season... Stonington knocked off No. 2 Canton 9-5 in the semifinals, scoring six unanswered goals in the second half to take over… Stonington defeated Class M finalist East Lyme 10-9 in the first round in the ECC semifinals, but lost to Woodstock Academy 11-9 in the final… The Bears have won nine of 10 games heading into the final.
