Sales­force gets Tableau for $15B

Cus­tomer re­la­tion­ship soft­ware ven­dor Sales­force is spend­ing $15.3 bil­lion to ac­quire Tableau, a Seat­tle com­pany founded with soft­ware to help peo­ple an­a­lyze and visualize com­plex data sets. Some 86,000 com­pa­nies use Tableau’s plat­form in­clud­ing Charles Sch­wab, Net­flix and Ver­i­zon Com­mu­ni­ca­tions, with Sales­force ex­pect­ing Tableau to add rev­enue be­tween $350 mil­lion and

$400 mil­lion in its 2020 fis­cal year that ends next Jan­uary. Sales­force earned

$1.1 bil­lion in fis­cal 2019 on rev­enue of $13.3 bil­lion.
