Bethel beer & pretzel pub folds

Proof Bar & Cafe has closed in Bethel after a run lasting less than two months with a concept pairing beer and gourmet pretzels. In a Facebook post, Proof owners John Schauster and Samantha Lupacchino did not give a reason for the sudden closure. The eatery opened only in April at the former site of The Spot on Greenwood Avenue and Front Street in downtown Bethel, featuring Connecticut craft beers and a variety of pretzels and dipping sauces, as well as burgers, sandwiches, wings and other pub food.
