2 killed in crash

SOUTHBURY — State Police are investigat­ing the cause of a wrong-way crash on Interstate 84 early Saturday that left two men dead.

David Hozer, 46, of Southbury, was traveling the wrong way on westbound I-84, between Exits 16 and 15, around 1 a.m. Saturday when he collided with a vehicle driven by Diego Jimenez, 48, of Newtown, according to an accident report by Trooper Ryan Lopez.

Jimenez died at 2:08 a.m. Saturday after being taken to Waterbury Hospital.

Hozer remained in critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital until he died at 1:36 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Apart from the drivers, there were no passengers in the two vehicles.

Jimenez was driving a 2017 Chrysler 300 limousine.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Jimenez was the owner and president of Phoenix Limousine Service, of Newtown. The company specialize­s in corporate and personal travel.

His profile says Jimenez owned Phoenix Limousine Service since 2010. From January 2000 to December 2009, he owned Millennium Limousine Service.

He also attended Quinnipiac University between 1989-91 and attended Greenwich High School from 1987 to 1989.

Hozer was driving a 2011 Audi Q5. Hozer was a financial and investment adviser at Barnum Financial Group. He previously worked as a financial adviser at Webster Bank and Morgan Stanley.

He was a graduate of Southern Connecticu­t State University.

According to his death notice, Hozer is survived by his parents, Lewis and Joyce Hozer, his sister Wendy, and “his precious gems (children), Jacob, Jaden, Aryella and Ava.”

A memorial service for Hozer will be held at noon on Tuesday at Temple B’nai Israel located at 444 Main St. North in Southbury. There will be a private burial.
