Official numbers roll in for Danbury area elections

- By Julia Perkins

Two days after the municipal election that saw many incumbents returning to top offices, official results were available in several Danbury area towns.

Registrars are still verifying numbers in Washington and Newtown, where a recount was held Wednesday due to a narrow race for Legislative Council District 3.

Danbury plans to hold a citywide recount at 10 a.m. Wednesday because of the close margin between Democrat Robert J. Taborsak and Republican Bruce E. Bennett. Current numbers show Taborsak earning a seat on City Council, with Bennett missing out on the seat by 14 votes.

Washington is scheduling a recount for the first selectman race, while Ridgefield also plans to recount votes to determine who sits in the last open Board of Finance seat.
