Another piece to the puzzle that is UConn’s 2020-21 schedule is in place.

The Huskies will host Division II Fort Hays State in an exhibition, a school spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.

The teams last squared off on Nov. 1, 2017 in Harford, with the Huskies coasting to an 82-37 victory behind 19 points from Kia Nurse. The date and location of the rematch have yet to be announced.

Carl Adamec of the Manchester Journal Inquirer first reported the arrangement.

Located in Hays, Kan., Fort Hays State competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference. The Tigers went 23-7 last season, and were poised to face Minnesota Duluth in the Division II Tournament before the NCAA canceled the rest of its winter and spring championships due to concerns over the coronavirus.

Exactly how UConn’s slate will look beyond this remains uncertain. With the Big East poised to increase to a 20-game league schedule, the Huskies will need to either move or eliminate two contests to meet the NCAA’s limit of 29 for the regular season.

At the moment, the Huskies have the following non-league games in place for next season: Dayton, Little Rock, Maryland, South Carolina and Texas at home, as well as Baylor, California, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia on the road. The Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge at Mohegan Sun, where they’ll play Quinnipiac and Mississippi State or Maine, does not count toward that limit.
