The position for an interim assistant superintendent was vacant after Alicia DiCorpo — previously the interim assistant superintendent — was appointed as interim superintendent on Oct. 29.
The board said it would begin its search for permanent replacements in December during a previous board meeting in November. Calabrese will assist DiCorpo in her interim role until the positions are permanently filled. The hope is to hire the next superintendent by February, interim superintendent DiCorpo.

“Catherine Calabrese and Kevin Best exhibit the requisite leadership skills and abilities to bring continuity to the work in their respective positions. They are dynamic leaders and will work hard to continue to support our educators, staff, families and children during this difficult time,” DiCorpo said in the release. “I am thrilled to welcome them to their respective new schools/ positions and look forward to working with them in this new capacity.”
