Georgette “Gee” Morey

-

Georgette “Gee” (Nahom) Morey went home to the Lord on Christmas Eve after her valiant battle against the horrible Covid-19 virus. Gee was a strong person who taught her family many things, especially honor, values, and faith. She was born in Danbury, CT to David and Adell Nahom on July 5, 1927, graduated from High School at 16 and married Emil Morey at 20. They worked together in their IGA grocery store and later, in the Real Estate business which Emil created in 1953. Gee left the business to raise her sons, George and Robert, and when they were old enough to be in school, began a career in Nursing which lasted nearly 30 years and finished as a Charge Nurse at Danbury Pavillion/Heritage Heights. She chose to work the 11:00 pm to 7:00 am shift so that she could be home for dinner and breakfast with her family and to get her boys off to school. Aside from her family and her career, Gee’s other love was her church, St. Ann Melkite Greek-Catholic Church in Danbury, where she was a life-long member and was very involved in church life including the Ladies’ Guild (which she served for a time as President) and was always in the kitchen helping with the baking for the various festivals, sales, and Bazaars. Georgette is survived by her two sons, George of Danbury and Robert (and wife, Dianne) of Newtown, and her sister, Helen Nahom, of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Bryon Holick (wife Annie), Kerri Pierz (husband John) and Bethany Leduc (husband Cary) as well as six great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and many loving nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, Emil, and siblings George Nahom, Emily Gowdy, Edmund Nahom, and Carol Beers. Funeral service for immediate family at St. Ann Melkite Church on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10:00 am, (which may be viewed live on St. Ann’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ DanburyMelkite), followed by a graveside service and burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, which all may attend with masks and social distancing. In 2021, there will be a Celebration of Georgette’s life when all can attend safely. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Ann Melkite Greek-Catholic Church at 181 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, CT 06811, or online on the Church’s website, https://saintann.org
