Popular three-time Travelers Championship winner Bubba Watson will be attempting to win a fourth title at TPC River Highlands this June. Watson officially committed to the tournament field, Travelers announced on Tuesday morning.

The Travelers was Watson’s first professional victory on the PGA Tour in

2010, defeating both Corey Pavin and Scott Verplank in a three-way, sudden-death playoff. He won again in

2015 in another playoff, this time against Paul Casey. In

2018, Watson rallied from six strokes down in the final round to win the third Travelers title.

This will be Watson’s 15th appearance at the Travelers.

Watson, ranked 60th in the world, won the Masters in 2012 and 2014. The 42year-old has 12 PGA Tour titles to his credit.

He also is well known for his philanthropy. Upon winning in 2018 he donated

$200,000 to The Hole in the

Wall Gang Camp, Travelers’ primary beneficiary. His donation helped the tournament generate $2 million in donations to its various charities that year.

And most recently, Watson donated $25,000 to help the camp rebuild some of its buildings after a fire destroyed much of the Ashford property. Travelers and the Travelers Championship announced in February that it would match up to $1 million in donations toward the camp.

“Bubba has not only embraced our event, but he has embraced our community by supporting tournament charities with incredibly generous personal donations. The Watson family has become part of our extended family, and we’re happy to have them back this summer,” Andy Bessette, the executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Travelers, said in a statement.

Watson joins defending champion Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau in the field. The tournament will be held June 24-27.
