Brookfield holds tree lighting ceremony this weekend

- By Currie Engel

BROOKFIELD — After a week of Thanksgiving festivities, Brookfield is inviting its residents to attend the holiday tree lighting this weekend.

The town will be hosting its annual tree lighting ceremony Saturday at the Brookfield Town Center, starting at 4:45 p.m.

Festivities kick off with refreshments at Brookfield Village before the tree lighting and firetruck “Parade of Lights” kickoff around 5:20 p.m. at Brookfield Funeral Home.

Cookies, hot chocolate and carols by St. Marguerite’s choir will also be in good supply, ushering in the holiday mood as December approaches.

Last year, the town posted a YouTube video of Santa Claus speaking to Brookfield children while hosting a virtual tree lighting ceremony.

“A little Christmas magic, since we couldn't have the lighting in person,” the video’s caption read.

This year, the ceremony will be back in person.
