Judge elected president of College of Probate judges
District of Danbury Probate Judge, the Honorable Dianne E. Yamiin, has been elected president elect of the National College of Probate Judges by her peers at the recent National College of Probate Judges Fall Conference in Savannah, Ga., on Thursday, Nov. 11.
Yamin is the probate judge for the District of Danbury. She has been in the role since 1990.
The general event is the only nationwide organization that is exclusively dedicated to improving probate law and probate courts.
Judges from across the U.S. discussed and focused on the effects of COVID-19 on court processes, as well as the effect the growing older population has on probate and conservator jurisdiction. They also discussed the opioid epidemic and the increased incidence of mental illness cases.
