Danbury Brass Band to present free concert
The members of the Danbury Brass Band are presenting a free Christmas concert from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury.
The church is located at 18 Clapboard Ridge Road, on Route 39, in Danbury.
The Danbury Brass Band members’ put on the concert annually. The concert for 2021 will include premiere performances of original compositions and arrangements of seasonal music that span some 400 years. Sacred and secular music of various types will be performed by the brass instruments. All of the band's music has been specially written and/or arranged for the ensemble by its members.
In addition to the premieres, there will be arrangements of well known Christmas music including parts of “Carmina Burana,” the Shepherds Chorus from “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” and “Weihnachtsbaum,” which are all Christmas song arrangements by composer Franz Liszt. The song arrangements will also include: “Brother Come and Dance With Me,” “Dashing Through the Snow,” “Christmas Fanfare,” and a composer Peter Schickele (PDQ Bach) rearrangement of a “Little Suite for Christmas.”
Attendees will be able to join the band and meet the band members, who represent
the very best brass players in the vicinity.
The concert has been a tradition in the area for a longtime by the members of the Danbury Brass Band.
