Santa Claus to visit the Danbury Railway Museum

-

Santa Claus is paying a visit to the Danbury Railway Museum for the next few weekends.

He will be at the museum this Saturday and Sunday, as well as Saturday, Dec. 11, Sunday, Dec. 12, Saturday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 19, for a major fundraising event for the volunteer-run museum.

Participants will be able to take a ride in a vintage train through the historic railyard to visit Santa Claus. After a short train ride in a restored 1953 rail diesel car through the historic Danbury railyard, participants will be escorted back to the train station for a meet and greet with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Reservations are necessary.

Children will be able to enjoy the festively decorated museum interior of the restored 1903 train station when guests arrive and check-in at the museum.

Children will also be able to enjoy a Letters to Santa coloring station, operating model railroads, interesting exhibits and artifact displays.

All attendees will also be guided back to the train station for a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Old St. Nick will also give children a unique present.

Parents will be able to bring pre-wrapped presents, or select one from the online menu on danburyrail.org/ in a new feature for the event. Reservations are necessary for the special event.

After the train ride, people will be free to enjoy a walk through the railyard with a cup of hot chocolate, with marshmallows.

Trains will depart at 12:30 pm., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.. The 5 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. trains will run in darkness, which is ideal for enjoying the lighted railyard.

Tickets are $20 for ages 2 and up. People should use the offer code: “CABOOSE21” to save $2 per paid admission.

The museum is at 120 White St. in Danbury.
