CIAC FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS TOP PERFORMERS

A look at the top performers thus far in the CIAC football playoffs.

Angel Arce, Maloney: Threw four touchdown passes, and went 10-for-12 in the air for 221 yards in Maloney’s 49-14 Class L quarterfin­al victory.

Cole Brisson and Ted Williams, Cromwell/Portland: Brisson, a quarterbac­k, threw for 500 yards and six touchdowns in Cromwell/Portland’s Class S semifinal win over Ansonia. Williams, a wide receiver, caught five of the touchdowns, bringing in 17 total receptions for 332 yards.

Elijah Cromartie, Windsor: Threw six touchdown passes in Windsor’s 62-0 Class L quarterfin­al win over Cheney Tech. He followed that performanc­e up with four passing touchdowns, three in the second half of Windsor’s Class L comeback 35-31 victory over St. Joseph.

Joe Cesare, Darien: The senior cornerback came up with three intercepti­ons and a fumble recovery in Darien’s 24-10 Class LL semifinal win over New Canaan.

Tighe Cummiskey, Darien:

The running back had three touchdowns with nearly 200 yards rushing and 50 receiving yards in Darien’s 46-19 Class LL quarterfin­al win over Hamden.

Henry Cunney, New Canaan:

The New Canaan quarterbac­k went 18-for-25 for 269 yards and a touchdown in the Rams 38-14 Class LL quarterfin­al win over Southingto­n.

Travon Edmondson, Rockville: The senior running back scored four touchdowns as Rockville defeated Torrington 42-12 in the Class M semifinal.

Patch Flanagan, Hand:

Flanagan rushed for all three of his team’s touchdowns in Hand’s 21-20 Class L quarterfin­al loss to St. Joseph.

Joziah Gonzalez, Maloney:

Had two receiving touchdowns and a third on a punt return as Maloney defeated Masuk 56-14 in the Class L semifinal round.

Aidan King, Shelton: The senior had two intercepti­ons to set the tone in Shelton’s 42-28 Class LL quarterfin­al victory over Hall.

Darell McKnight, Ansonia:

Had four rushing touchdowns, including a 71-yard run and a 64-yard run in Ansonia’s 33-8 Class S quarterfin­al win over Seymour. He totaled 257 yards on 23 carries.

Ryan O’Connell, Fairfield Prep: The senior linebacker contribute­d on both sides of the ball, helping hold Greenwich to 14 points in the Class LL quarterfin­al while scoring two of Prep’s three touchdowns (including the game winner) as well.

Victor Rosa, Bristol Central: Ran 28 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns in Bristol Central’s 49-14 loss to Maloney in the Class L quarterfin­al round.

Dallas Rose, Bloomfield: Ran for three touchdowns, one of which went for 98 yards, in Bloomfield’s 50-18 Class S quarterfin­al victory over Morgan.

Nick Saccu, Masuk: Rushed for the last two touchdowns of Masuk’s 21-17 quarterfin­al Class L victory over Naugatuck.

Tyler Semonich, Torrington: Scored three touchdowns and compiled 107 yards on 13 carries as Torrington defeated Granby/Canton 37-29 in the Class M quarterfin­al.

Jack Sharpe, Killingly: Ran 23 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns in Killingly’s 49-14 Class M quarterfin­al win over Gilbert/NW/ Housy.

Rashawn Shelton, Maloney: The defensive back had two intercepti­ons in Maloney’s 56-14 Class L semifinal win over Masuk, one of which was a pick six. He also caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Arce to open the scoring.
