Fern Null Rajcula

Fern Null Rajcula 93, of Brookfield, CT, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on December 2, 2021. She was born in Danbury, CT, daughter of the late Marion O’Sullivan and Warren Null. She was the fifth of six children and was predecease­d by all five of her siblings, her husband of 39 years Joseph A. Rajcula, and her son Peter Rajcula.

She leaves behind five children, Karen deFriesse and husband Steve, Jody Rajcula and wife Maura Keenan, Joseph W. Rajcula and wife Leslie, daughter-inlaw Rhonda Rajcula, Mary Rajcula and partner Mark Howard, and David Rajcula and partner Nilü Tarkan; 14 grandchild­ren including Debbie deFriesse, Lisa Emmerson and husband Shawn, Jessica Rajcula and partner Justin Miller, Rocky, Dino and Nina Ongaro, Joseph A., Nicholas, Ian, Jacob, Matthew, Samuel, Thomas, and Alyssa Rajcula; and three great grandchild­ren, Reilly and Preston Emmerson and Avery Miller..

She also leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews.

Fern graduated from Danbury high school in 1946 and went to work for the Southern New England Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring at age 59. She was a telephone operator in both the Danbury and New Milford offices.

Fern met her husband Joe in Danbury and married in 1955. They built the house on Long Meadow Hill Road and raised their six children there. It gave great pleasure to Fern to stay in her house to her final day.

A lifetime member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Brookfield, Fern’s faith was very important to her as was her family and her home. They brought her the most happiness.

Her home was always full of her kids, their friends and extended family on both sides. She and her husband traveled to Ireland, the Netherland­s and Paris but her home was always where her heart was.

Fern’s wake will be at St. Joseph’s Church in Brookfield on Saturday, Dec. 11 beginning at 10:00 a.m. A mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticu­t and/or to St. Joseph’s Church in Brookfield.
