WestConn department earns accreditation
DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University’s education and educational psychology department has earned accreditation.
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, or CAEP, granted the recognition after “rigorous” on-site review and study, the university said. The accreditation remains in effect until spring 2028.
“CAEP agreed with us that the education provided by our education and educational psychology department offers a successful multidisciplinary program that integrates theory with practice to prepare our students to become competent and effective professionals that will contribute to the community upon graduation,” Katherine Roe, chair of the department, said in a statement.
The department met several standards, including program impact, candidate quality, proficiency in content and pedagogical knowledge, and recruitment and selectivity.
