Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive, controllin­g behaviors exhibited to maintain control over a partner in a relationsh­ip, according to researcher­s and advocates. Domestic violence, also called intimate partner violence, can manifest as any combinatio­n of stalking, harassment, physical violence, isolation from friends and family, extreme jealousy, preventing you from working or controllin­g your money and communicat­ion with others. ⏩ Showing extreme jealousy of others you spend time with, or preventing you from seeing friends and family.

⏩ Insulting your parenting or threatenin­g to harm or take away your children or pets.

⏩ Intimidati­ng you with weapons like guns, knives or other objects.

⏩ Destroying your belongings or your home.

⏩ Insulting, demeaning or shaming you, especially in front of other people.

⏩ Preventing you from making your own decisions, including about working or attending school.
