Josh Boganski, Maloney: The running back rushed for 244 yards on 47 carries with four touchdowns in Maloney’s 35-21 Class M state title win over Windsor. Boganski’s four touchdowns were Maloney’s first four of the game. Tighe Cummiskey, Darien: Ran for 188 yards on 25 carries with one touchdown. His first quarter 40-yard rushing TD got the scoring started for Darien in its 42-7 Class LL state championsh­ip victory over Fairfield Prep.

David Evanchick, Darien: The Blue Wave defense dominated Fairifeld Prep in the Class LL final, holding the Jesuits to just one touchdown. Evanchick led the effort with two sacks and a third quarter fumble recovery to set up a score.

Soren Rief, Killingly: The sophomore scored two third-quarter touchdowns of 17 and 28 yards in Killingly’s 28-14 Class M state title victory over Rockville. Rief’s two TDs were the were the eventual game winners for Killingly. He ran the ball 17 times for 183 yards in total.

Jeremiah Stafford, Darien: Stafford rushed for three touchdowns in Darien’s Class LL state title victory, one of which went for 54 yards. His touchdowns were all scored consecutiv­ely, eliminatin­g any comeback hopes Fairfield Prep may have had.

Kuron Wiggins, Maloney: The defensive backfield known as the ‘Ball Hawks’ had forced multiple turnovers in the first two rounds, but it was

Wiggins who shines in the championsh­ip game with two intercepti­ons. His intercepti­ons were his seventh and eight of the season, passing the previous school record along with teammate Rashawn Shelton.

Ted Williams, Cromwell/Portland:

Cromwell/Portland’s swiss army knife scored all three of his team’s touchdowns in the Class S championsh­ip victory over Bloomfield, 21-6. Williams recovered a fumble in the endzone and had a 46-yard TD reception in the first half. He also had a 66-yard pick 6 in the third quarter and recovered a Bloomfield fumble on defense.
