BROOKFIELD — Two drivers were sent to the hospital with injuries after separate crashes in town this week, according to fire officials.

Units with the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company responded to the intersection of Sandy Lane and Old Grays Bridge Road on Tuesday afternoon for a report of a vehicle that crashed into a building.

The driver was taken to Danbury Hospital to be evaluated for injuries, fire officials said. Building officials and the fire marshal responded to the scene to evaluate the stability of the structure.

Crews were back in service after about an hour at the scene.

Then on Wednesday night, units responded to Route 7 North for a onevehicle crash.

The first unit at the scene reported the sole occupant in the vehicle required extrication. Using the Jaws of Life, firefighters freed the driver, who was taken to Danbury Hospital with injuries, officials said.

Crews remained at the scene for about 45 minutes.
